blogging at the writers festival

Posted on Updated on

Jessica Watson solo sailor signing her book for fans at the Byron Bay Writers Festival

so what got me started with this blog idea, was i was lucky enough to be selected to blog at a local writers festival as part of a team of university media students where we got to exchange our purile attempts at writing for a free entry ticket.. not a bad deal on my behalf

the festival is held at an iconic Australian town called Byron Bay..some folk I’ve met overseas have heard of it as its quite a favourite with Hollywood celebrities .. even Paris Hilton has dropped by to eat at Rae’s on Watego’s and soak up the Australian sun

when i was there i saw a panel on memoir that included Jessica Watson, who at 16 sailed unassisted and non-stop around the world in 2010. her book True Spirit: The Aussie girl who took on the world is a great read and an inspiration to the rest of us to take that leap of faith and test ourselves in unknown waters, metaphorically and literally

if you want to check out my blog on her here is the link … there is probably a better way to insert it but for now thats the best i can do!

Welcome to the blogosphere! You have some beautiful pics of your corner of the world, and some vivid verbal descriptions, too.

Thanks, I’m particularly enjoying learning about people’s natural environments, it is heartening to see so many with an avid interest in the plants, animals and landscapes they inhabit.
