white-faced heron

Posted on Updated on

The common White-faced Heron is often called the blue crane but they are not related to the true cranes. It feeds on small insects, frogs and other small animals found amoung grass, in marshes and shallow water. There is always one or two out on Look At Me Now Headland which sits at the north end of Moonee Beach Nature Reserve. They are very pleasing to look at with their soft grey wings and yellow legs and move in a graceful and fluid style.
