Herons are long-necked, long-legged waterbirds and this White-faced Heron is common across Australia. There are always a few picking their dainty way over the nearby headland in search of small insects….

… the little dot in the background is a sea-eagle in flight.

      he’s probably wondering if I’m competition for whatever it was he was stalking in that mound of grass!

      I’d guess he’s about two feet .. 60 cms.. maybe slightly more when neck is standing fully erect
