rainbow lorikeet

The Rainbow Lorikeets are small parrots with long necks, pointed tails and brush-tipped tongues for gathering nectar and pollen from flowers. They are around 25-30 cm and screech noisily while in flight but when feeding make a pleasant single note… a bit like our ‘yum’ ‘yum’ ‘yum’. This one is about to hoe down into the tasty banksia flower.

Captured at Look At Me Now Headland, Emerald Beach.

Lovely. Most birds around my condo are brown or gray except for red-tail hawks that visit my balcony some mornings.
