laughing kookaburra

This Laughing Kookaburra was perched on a coastal banksia while scanning the ground for his dinner. This is my favourite time of day at this time of year to take photos as the light is so beautiful. The Kookaburras are actually large Kingfishers that feed mainly on reptiles and large invertebrates and this type grows between 40-46cm. It makes a loud chuckling laugh.
