Goannas, also called Monitors, are large reptiles that live in the Australian bush, this one is very beautiful and was around four foot top to tail, I spotted him on the side of a rural dirt road on a way to a friend’s place at Glenugie on the north coast of NSW. I think he is vying with the kookaburra to be king of the bush!
Saw this baby monitor , more commonly called a goanna, while visiting a friends bush block at Glenugie on the far north coast of NSW. They move incredibly quickly and he was up a 50 ‘ tree in no time. He is only 3’ long and will grown much larger. There are lots of varieties and the closest pattern I have found is the Spencer’s Monitor but it is difficult to say for sure.
